My first wedding

This was my first wedding, and I was nervous. My friends mom was getting married after many years after her first marriage. Needless to say she was also nervous, we sat down to discuss her wedding. This was a small wedding, I would say maybe 50 people max.

Debbie was such a trooper, we had a plan but due to unforeseen circumstances, when don't these happen, guests were a little late. The venue was their house and my god it was absolutely stunning with the sunset. So fast forward, we are ready to go and Debbie asks me "what do we need to do". By this time I have gotten over being nervous, this is her day and I wanted to make sure I delivered. I told her, " I want you and Todd to be yourselves, don't look for the camera". Man did they deliver, the photo that is the face of this blog was, in my opinion, the best photo. They were so happy, Todd was so relaxed and just the best. He really helped everything go off without any problems.

I heard that the photographer is supposed to put the subject at ease to make the shoot, whether it be a wedding or portrait shoot. I'm not sure after doing this wedding that is true, I personally think the photographer is a small portion of this. The subject(s) are the one(s) that create the emotions and expressions that are caught. I can tell someone that the shoot is going great but it is a give and take.

Thank you so much to Debbie and Todd for really teaching me how to help make everyone feel comfortable but also to them helping me feel confident. Seeing that they were nervous as well about the people that were in attendance and the fact that this was a huge step really will help me in the future.
